    This small antique Asian cabinet is built in a very unusual style. The first part that strikes you is the full solid panel front, with no doors or drawers. This panel is covered in beautiful, intricate paintings. These paintings use mostly red, green, yellow colors along with black. The way the designs are laid out give this cabinet the appearance of a trunk when viewed straight on.
    This large red center panel has a painting of a butterfly in each of the upper corners. The center of the panel has a round design that has some lotus flowers and what appears to be 2 Koi fish on either side of the top lotus flower. Surrounding this round design there are paintings of 5 bats, which is a symbol of good luck or fortune.
    The area above the red panel has a black background that is divided into 3 panels with flowers and many other designs.  On either side and below the red panel are dark borders with fancy designs.
    The top of the cabinet is red. The right side of the cabinet has a single door and the left side has a pair of smaller doors with a drawer above. Both sides are painted green, and it is likely that that right side door was not original to the cabinet. It was probably added later from the original fixed panel to make access to the cabinet easier.
    The back of this unique cabinet is finished in a brown stain.
    This Antique Asian cabinet shows some wear to the paintings as seen in the photos, and has been finished in a glossier lacquer to help preserve it.
