    Polished Petrified Wood Slab (Araucaria (conifer) (Lapidary Quality) - Location: Madagascar. Here we have a polished (on one side) petrified wood slab from Madagascar. It is an Araucaria (conifer) from the Triassic period. The slab section shows great detail and looks just like it did when the piece was still part of a 'living' tree. This makes a great display specimen (my own personal preference) however; this piece also has potential for lapidary purposes.
