Up for sale are a pair of matching German Mp40 pouches. These pouches were purchased from a private collection some years ago and have been properly stored and maintained since then. These appear to be a transitional "type 2 " pouch style with the early D ring attachment point but lacking the canvas tabs with metal tip reinforcements. The pouhces are marked MP38 u. 40, which seems typical from the research I've done. I could not find any other markings or manufacturers stamps on them, they've likely been obscured or faded away. The pouches themselves are in very good condition with only minor wear and some fading on the fabric. One of the leather tabs has a tear by the stitching but is still quite well secured. The hardware has some patina but is completely functional and the leather is still fairly supple, however I would not recommend excessive opening of the pouches to avoid tearing the leather. I am not an expert by any means and I know these items can be a mine field, but based on the research I've done on these pouches and comparing them with photos of originals in known collections I personally feel that these are wartime produced. I will try to answer any questions potential buyers might have to the best of my ability. Thank you for looking.
