    Description

    Muncie 4-Speed Main Case
Genuine GM MUNCIE Service Replacement Main Case (Counter Case)
    Casting Number  3925661  CC0 43230
This is NOT the Vehicle Assembly Date!!
It can be used on ANY year vehicle (with a 1" countershaft)...
The CC0 simply means that it was made by GM in 1970...
It could have been "on the shelf" at a GM dealership for multiple years!
OK Kids, this is the Case that You want to use when You are needing to build the "Missing M22" that the guy that You bought Your Z28 from swears was an all original, numbers matched,  1000 point car...  You know the situation...  Total restoration, all numbers appear to be there, but the trans has the wrong build date and the
VIN is not for Your car!  So You thought You were getting a
Barrett Jackson or Mecum Auction quality vehicle....
So what can You do?  I don't like to fabricate history (even though, in life in general, that is happening a lot today), but the Concours Judges would much rather see a "CC - Service Replacement Case" case in a vehicle with NO BUILD DATE and NO VIN as to see the the
    blatantly
wrong build date and incorrect VIN!!!
    Now back to the case...
I have looked at Cases on eBay for Years, and the most important issues that can "Plague" a Muncie are never addressed...
Most descriptions say "Pin Bore Tight"...  What the heck does that mean?  Does it mean the pin slides in the case with no or little resistance?  Or does it mean that the pin
    doesn't
move around in the case?  I have been building Muncies for 50 Years and have only seen a handful of cases that the pin bore is indeed usable.  The Case
    absolutely
needs to be re-machined to correct the pin bore (see above Images)...  It is the only way to make the Unit function properly..  NO Sealant, NO dimples, NO peening...  That is NOT the way to make the Transmission function correctly.  If Your builder recommends doing any of these, find another builder!
The next issue is the pin location...  You have to remember, the Muncie Transmission is 50 Years Old and has been abused most of its life...  The the pin bore in the bulkheads on the front and rear of the case tend to move around (stretch) and needs to be brought back in to tolerance (
    parallel
) to the main shaft...  This is critical in a higher performance application.  I always request that the pin bore be moved closer to the main shaft .003" !!  Needs a little more time to break in, but makes for a Sweet Transmission!
Then the dreaded "spinning of the thrust washers"!  Look at the images of the thrust washer contact surfaces...  The thrust washer "Tang" retention areas are pristine...  Most are chewed away, and You never get any pictures of that...
In the Machining process, the Case has been "Interference" fitted with the pin ("Lockable" style), which is included with case!
This description could go on forever..  So, let Me say this:  There is only one person in the USA that can (In My Opinion) do a proper job on re-machining the cases back to the
    correct
dimensions...  (and He did this case)..  Case is clean (Cleaned with a lot of "elbow grease" and
    lacquer thinner..
NO glass beading, It will ruin the "as cast patina"), plastic bagged, and ready for You to build.  You will not find a nicer case out there (trust Me, I have looked)..
Now, here is a bit of the History...
The Code "CC0" that is stamped on the Case is now commonly referred to as a "Counter Case" (with a general inventory year of 1970) and NO transmission assembly date....  There also is a 5 digit number (some say that this is referenced to the number of Counter Cases that were minted, but that fact has never been verified).
This 5 digit number has some interesting properties...  The 5 digit number only appears (from the Counter Transmission Cases that I have seen) on the "Gasket Retention" surfaces of the case, NOT the stamping pad (see images)!  This was probably (just a guess) due to the fact that GM wanted to have the stamping pad available for the Transmission Build Date Stamping (it was later recorded), and not to be confused with the VIN of the Vehicle!  The Service Replacement Case (Counter Case), as in this example, CC0 xxxxx are on BOTH the gasket area and the stamping pad (again, You are only getting the remanufactured Case) and was never assembled by GM into a complete Transmission...  It was (by GM) put into the Parts Inventory System for Warranty Replacements, Upgrades, Dealer installations, or general sales to the Hot Rodding Public.
All of that being said, this would be the perfect transmission case for that "Numbers Correct" (again, I never liked or agreed with that
    terminology) 1966 ~ 1974 Vehicle...
    Any question, please ask!
Ships free to continental USA ONLY, or Shipping Internationally, to limited destinations, using the eBay Global Shipping Program!  Again, You have to have an actual United States lower 48 states "verified" address for free shipping!  The Global Shipping program does have an actual USA address. If You do not want to use the eBay Global Shipping Program, You must have Your eBay account registered in the USA with a verified USA address for a qualified USA shipping location!   Beware! There are some International locations that the Global Shipping Program CANNOT Ship to!!  Make sure that You check the excluded International locations before bidding!  If You are on the excluded list, DO NOT BID!!  If You are in one of the excluded locations, the eBay Global Shipping Program CANNOT ship Your items to You!  NEITHER CAN I!  I DO NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING!  I cannot see any of the Global Shipping Program invoicing to You, the Buyer!  That is handled By the Global Shipping Program rules.  The Global Shipping Program will calculate Your applicable (additional) fees, tariffs, etc. and shipping charges to Your International location.
Those fees and charges plus International shipping charges are YOUR responsibility, NOT MINE!!!  Please don't ask Me to remove the charges that Your Country has specified for eBay to collect!!  I do not have the ability to do that, nor will I discount the item to reflect that amount!
The Global Shipping Program cannot (I contacted eBay and this fact was verified) generate an Invoice for orders that contain multiple items!  I assume that their systems cannot correctly differentiate between items with multiple weights, quantities, parcel sizes, and contents!
It really saddens Me to have to keep saying this, but almost ALL International Buyers seem to want Me to do just that! It is a waste of MY time to deal with International Buyers who don't want to pay their Countries Lawful Taxes and Duties...
The eBay Global Shipping Program uses a USA shipping address
(again, I pay shipping charges to them), and is a re-shipper, that handles all of the required paperwork and shipping charges (You pay charges from them to Your address) for International buyers.
I have NO connections with the eBay Global Shipping Program, or International destinations taxes, tariffs, charges, fees, shipping, or any other pieces of the process...
Again, I don't do any International shipping. They have the required expertise to do that.
Soo.. If You ask Me to ship to an International address, change the
Taxes, Tariffs, Fees, etc. or attempt to break the Law, Your Order will simply be "CANCELLED"!!
    NO EXCEPTIONS!
