This beautiful and versatile
cabinet
has clean, simple lines. The outer doors open to a divided compartment hiding a lower section behind decorated panels that slide open for access. The cabinet is raised on bracket feet with shaped front aprons, and gilt decorations on the stiles and rails of the cabinet’s frame are in a lovely geometric pattern.
The paint-decorated doors and front panels depict cranes in full flight. Cranes play an important role in Chinese mythology. The crane is venerated as the prince of feathered creatures (second only to the phoenix) symbolizing longevity and peace.
This sturdy cabinet was handcrafted with tenon and mortise joinery. The brass hardware is original and the polychrome finish has a beautifully-aged patina. Its nice proportions makes it the ultimate utility player. It works as a sideboard, night table or television stand, and will be right at home in virtually any space.
