Here is a very nice antique Chinese armoire cabinet. It is constructed in the typical 4 sides square style, where the top is flush with all sides.
The front of the cabinet features 2 large doors that hinge on wood pivots. Each door has a rich red lacquer finish that is adorned with many gilt images of traditional designs. These include assorted vases with flowers, sensors, scrolls, and more.
There is a wide flat apron below the door that has a hidden compartment behind it. The compartment is accessible from inside the cabinet by removing a section of the floor. The front of the apron, as well as the front frame of the cabinet, are all finished in black lacquer with gold designs. The apron has 2 large dragons with a round longevity symbol in the center. Two gold band runs around the perimeter of the apron.
There is a small red apron that is slightly recessed below the large apron.
The back and sides of the cabinet are all finished in a dark brown lacquer.
Inside the cabinet are 2 removable shelves.
As can be seen in the photos there are some imperfections and the lacquer and small shrinkage cracks. This piece has had typical restoration found in pieces of this age, including replacement of hardware.
