This unusual cabinet was left in it’s original condition.
This style cabinet was originally used as a storage bin, most likely for grain. Typically during restoration, the painted front panel would be cut out and converted to doors, and sometimes the apron was used as drawer fronts. Fortunately, this piece maintains it’s original form. The lift out access lid on the top has it’s original hardware.
The upper front panel has a molded green frame. The panel is covered with beautiful paintings, but the most unusual is the large round scene in the center.  It features a Qi Lin with a pair of riders. The Qi Lin is a mythical creature, sometimes called a Chinese Unicorn that has a dragon head, a horse’s body with the scales of a Koi.
The lower panel is a smaller colorful apron, bordered with a molded yellow frame.
