This beautiful set of stromatolites come from morocco. Stromatolite‘s are the oldest lifeforms recorded in the fossil record going back as far as 3.5 billion years. Stromatolites are responsible for creating our oxygen rich atmosphere over the course of two billion years of respiration and are responsible for the proliferation of all life on planet earth. Because stromatolite’s are remnants of life preserved in calcium carbonate.
They were an abundant life form two to three billion years ago, but now are quite rare. Measures approximately 11" Long and 4.5" High. Weight is approximately 10.7 lbs. The item is in excellent condition, would be great for a school study, museum display or could be a great addition to someone's fossil collection.
