Description
Seen here is one lovely vermillion lacquer wooden jewelry cabinet from the Shanxi province of China circa the mid to late 19th century. This piece consists of a pine wood construction throughout, with hand formed brass accents, and dovetail joints. The cabinet features a beautiful vermillion paint and lacquer finish that has acquired a heavy patina. The top cabinet compartment opens on a set of brass hinges. Both the hinges, pulls and handles are fastened through the exterior and into the interior via hand worked brass prongs. The brass plates and clasp are attached via hand formed tacks. The brass plates and hinges show a deep, time acquired patina that complements the color of the exterior well. Overall the piece is in good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. All drawers function as they should, the piece lays flat and all hardware is still functional and well attached. This cabinet would make for an aesthetically pleasing antique storage option for a wide range of small items.Dimensions: 15.25” wide - 13.25” deep - 12.25” tall
